The Early Childhood Development shall provide effective and efficient services which assist children to acquire healthy physical, emotional, mental, social and spiritual well-being.
The Early Childhood Development shall work with community agencies to fulfill their mission.
The services within the Early Childhood Development consist of the following:
- Crisis intervention
- Individual counselling
- Group counselling
- Social skills training
- Teacher support and training
- Parent support and training
- Advocacy
- Case Management – assessment, consultations, monitoring, follow-up care and referrals.
Early Childhood Development:
Early Childhood Development Counsellors develops and delivers programs that provide both information and develops community awareness programs.
Activities include:
I. Hanen Program Training
- Stages of language development
- Create enriched interactive language learning environment
- Social and literacy development
- Strategies to enhance language, social and literacy development
II. Communication Skill Building
- Diffusing aggressive behaviours
- Conflict resolution/mediation with families
- Problem solving and strategy building with families
III. Interactive approaches appropriate for the growth and development of children 0-6 years old
- Training includes cultural teaching as it relates to the child development
