- To assist children to acquire healthy physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being, so they may develop inner strength and grow from a solid foundation.
- To provide assistance to adults in their role as caregivers to children
- To coordinate programming with agencies to provide wholistic community health awareness
- To provide a supportive work environment to Social Development counsellors to ensure training, emotional areas are included
- To conduct annual client satisfaction surveys
- To Provide annual Program evaluation of service delivery
Early Childhood Development shall:
- support the spiritual, emotional, intellectual and physical growth of children living in Six Nations of the Grand River;
- support and encourage each child to enjoy life long learning;
- support parents and guardians as the primary teachers and care givers of their children;
- help parents to play a major part in planning, developing, implementing and evaluating the project;
- recognize and support the role of the extended family in teaching and caring for children;
- include the broader First Nations community throughout all of its stages, from planning to evaluation;
- ensure linkages and cooperation with other community programs and services to enhance the effectiveness of the projects; and
- ensure resources are used in the best way possible in order to produce measurable and positive outcomes for children living in Six Nations of the Grand River, as well as their parents, families and communities.
Early Childhood Development in partnership with community agencies undertake the following activities that correspond with the Activity Areas defined for the FASD Program:
- to provide activities that help those in the community who may be at risk of having a baby with FASD;
- to provide activities that will help support parents, families, or caregivers of children with FASD;
- to provide activities that will assist to identify, assess and diagnose children with FASD;
- to provide activities that will provide education and training about FASD.
